Inspired by the Most High, our lion - Desmond Boyd has come and is here to stay! Affectionately re-named Jundu Tu Ka Ta (which signifies "our lion cometh"), during a recent trip to Africa, Dez I has triumphantly re-emerged onto the music scene with the  vigor of a roaring lion.

"Thanks for Life" is the first official debut album by Desmond "Dez I" Boyd. Produced by New Creation Records, the album is comprised of a multi-cultural assortment of empowering, educational and entertaining musical messages. " I've traveled and performed in all parts of the world," says Dez I. "several people have touched my life and inspired me in various ways. This album is not only a testimony of those experienced, but also, an opportunity to live up to the responsibility o the lion- the leader of the jungle, and take people to higher heights - while being thankful for the journey of life itself."

Dez I has graces many stages both locally and internationally since he impacted the scene. Among some of the places he has performed are Jamaica, the Bahamas, the USA and the United Kingdom. He is also gearing up for an international promo tour supporting his album release.

Known, by family and friends as determined, focused, persistent and passionate, Dez I, is a talented entertainer, singer, and songwriter - who can pen a complete song within minutes. Our lion, Dez I is also characteristically sweet, understanding, real, cautious and serious - "Ain't nobody who knows Dez I and does not want to be a part of  his life," shares Dez I.

This Jamaican "griot" (story-teller) and extraordinary artist, Dez I, is destined  for success. It was made remarkably clear as he confidently stated his purpose in 1999 at the Tastee Contest finals: "mi nah stop "til mi get di trophy!" What judge could resist that kind of determination... it was no surprise when he was declared the winner of that competition.

It is this kind of true grit that Desmond is applying in taking his career to another level along with planning and execution strategies developed by his management team at New Creation Records, based in Atlanta, GA.

It all started for Boyd in church at the tender age of  four (4). He was very active in the youth choir at the church he attended in the district of his birth Harmons, Manchester on the paradise island of Jamaica. As he grew older, Dez I's love affair with music never ceased. He has performed at numerous community events, boosting his confidence, until he finally took on the challenges of top talent contest series such as the Popular Song Competition where he was a finalist at the long-running Tastee Talent Contest. Desmond's first Tastee's effort took him to the semi-finals... but that didn't deter him, as he never stopped until hw eon the coveted trophy. After copping the grand finals title in Jamaica, Boyd went on to capture third (3rd) place in the Tastee UK Talent Competition 2000, and also walked away with the Best Original Lyrics prize.

Wanting to launch mainstream in the music business Dez I worked with producer Courtney Murray, but "things were kind of slow". Being a good friend, Murray pointed out to him that if he saw better "a better opportunity" he should "take it." Boyd did just that. He called his childhood pal Sherwin Sterling, CEO id the Atlanta, Georgia-based label, New Creation Records Inc. and expressed his need of entering the music fraternity. His friend advised him to send a demo. Dez I, not one to miss an opportunity quickly complied... the res is history, where Dez I and New Creation Records are concerned.

Not one to rest on his laurels Dez I stays busy recording and recently completed two (2) classic songs "Seek Jah First" and "Senorita" for acclaimed producer Daddy Fras' (formerly known as Piper) Timeless Records. As far as he is concerned, Dez I wants to use his talent to keep the positive vibes flowing. "Real People" (produced by industry veteran Mikey Bennett) is a perfect example "when yuh find yuh self inna influential position, use it to make some conscious decision, no race, no class, no creed nor religion, jus ' the  real people mission we deh pon..." It is one of the main songs on Dez I's long anticipated debut album "Thanks  For Life!" on the New Creation Records label.

"There are two kinds of artists, ordinary and extraordinary... there's nothing artistically ordinary about Dez I."
